Other Acrylics from February

Here are some other pieces I've finished lately. I am starting to play with background and surroundings to that it isn't just an animal. But, sometimes the focus should just be on the animal. Really I am just painting what I am inspired to paint.

Owl Paintings for the August 2014 Show

I'm using the freezing weather to inspire me to spend more time in the studio painting. I am working on many pieces right now, but I'm still very much enjoying the owls. I consider these still to be studies. I want to move on to full scene landscapes with wildlife creatures. Not so much 'Southwest Art', but more 'Western Art'. I was inspired by a trip to Jackson Hole and the wonderful wildlife museum there (National Museum of Wildlife Art). I'll be posting my progress.
These are a series of 4. I used the same eight paint colors in each. They are 8"x10".

2014 CHAC Heart Show donations

I have been focusing on painting owls lately. This was a good opportunity to do some different owl studies. I got a lot of good feedback at the Heart Show. All of the pieces got bids on them and are now in a new home. Visit the CHAC website for more info on the annual heart show fundraiser. THe chicken heart was for my friend Janis who could not attend the Heart Show but who always buys a 'chicken heart' from me.

Wire-wrapped fused-glass pendants

I have my friend, Rene, to thank for getting me interested in wire wrapping. She does beautiful work and even though she says she doesn't like to 'sell' her works to strangers, I've seen her do really well in the last couple of shows we've had together. I'm trying to work elements into my pieces so that they are recognizably different than her pieces. I'm still learning, but here are some of my first pieces.
